Rick's Foods Custom-Salted
Bag, Newark, Nottinghamshire:
Traditional style as above with good flavour and a solid whack of
seasoning to give a very salty taste. These are hand-packed for a
few customers who like them very salty - they should be very satisfied,
though most people will find the salt excessive and should stick with
Rick's normal ones.

Freshers Foods Pub Original
Pork Crunch
50g:
Crunch style, but a bit more towards the traditional than most
crunches. Very good with a pint of mild. |
|
5
|
KP Pork Scratchings:
Miniature traditional style. Meagre portion, where having one
over-cooked, inedible one makes a big in-road into their enjoyment.
Having said that, I've had
a few good packets where the taste has been pretty good, so I've edged
the mark up from the original '4'. |

Sam Wooldridge, butcher,
Oldbury
West Midlands :
Excellent traditional pub scratchings in a simple bag. Not made by his

Unfortunately, he never had any spare when I visited and a recent visit
found that the shop had closed down. |

|
Morrisons Spicy Pork Crunch
35g:
Somewhere between traditional and crunch styles in texture. Dry
and crispy with a deceptive kick to the spice. Curry-like, but
definitely hotter after a few seconds of lulling you into a false sense
of security.
|
|
6
|

between traditional and crunch styles in texture, though more towards
the crunch. Dry, crispy and pleasantly seasoned.

Sohi Ltd Pork Scratchings

I remember these as being a bit greasy, but otherwise hard, crunchy,
traditional style pork scratchings. From the address, the appear
to be packaged at the same place as G. Simmons products.
|

|
G. Simmons & Sons Pork
Crunch 30g, Walsall:
Nicely seasoned crunch. Reasonably uniform pieces of a decent

KVE Tasty Pork Scratchings,
Tipton:
Small, white plastic bag. Very crunchy, usually small, crispy pieces
but some
interesting wafer-like strips of thin, crispy skin that reminded me of
the crackling from roast baby suckling pig, a Spanish speciality.
It's thinner than British roast pork crackling. |
|
|
KVE Traditional Butchers

Tipton:
Good, traditional pork scratchings.

|
BN Finest Pork Crunch 42g,

Like porky prawn crackers. OK, not Europe, but 'Rest of World'.

Sanzé Couratos 50g,

The
same as the Spanish crunch, which is hardly surprising, since it seems
to be made in Spain and packaged for the Portugese market.

Marisa Cortezas de Cerdo,
Spain:
Big,
tall plastic bag of puffy crunch in a brown paper bag. Little
seasoning, but enough flavour to eat on their own. There are some
huge
curly ones and some smaller ones, so a variety of sizes that make them
great with dips of all sorts.

puffy with little seasoning |

Cortezas 120g, Spain:
Chunky-sized puffed cortezas in curled strips.
|

5
|
Espada Cortezas 200g, Spain:
Small, neat, puffy-style. Subtle flavour and a
tendency
to explode dust up the back of the throat, rather like thick Quavers.
200g of very light crunchy pieces makes for a very big bag!
